Of course, there are times when you accidentally spill something on a carpet. If the accident happened, you should remove the stain as soon as possible. If you wait, you risk setting the stain in the carpet and making it harder to remove. Here are some tips on how to go about it.
You should keep 10 things in mind:
  1. Try to remove the stain immediately.
  2. For liquids etc.: carefully scoop up with a spoon.
  3. Dilute the stain with cold water if necessary.
  4. Remove the stain by dabbing with a clean cloth or paper towel – do not rub in place!
  5. Work from the edge of the carpet towards the middle.
  6. If necessary, also use some washing-up liquid and cold water.
  7. If necessary, carefully treat the stain with a clothes brush.
  8. If necessary, repeat the process from point 2.
  9. Then dry the affected area with a hairdryer or a low-speed blower.
  10. Use a clothes brush to restore the pile (in the direction of the pile).
If you want to be on the safe side, it’s good to have a gentle and effective stain remover at home. Acting quickly increases the chances that your carpet will not be affected and that the stain will be completely removed without the need for a carpet cleaning. Note that a stain remover should be gentle on the fabric so as not to damage the fibers.
